Unraveling Solitude

Unraveling solitude

Like a gift from an unlikely friend

Surprise, but a familiar and welcome feeling.

I’m making space in my chest beside my heart

Or something like that.

The music is loud

Strands of my hair are strung outside my ponytail

I’m swaying back and fourth on the white diamond carpet

All my lightbulbs are warm and my bedsheets are red

The room is pink,

The air conditioning is on

And life is good.

…You’re only a message away but I don’t—

My door is closed so I feel like the only one.

I unravel solitude and let her come.
